It was great to return to the early season event, Redbud. My last visit was in 2015. I’ve missed several years due to stormy weather and the coronavirus pandemic.
The Redbud is a very well organized event. This year it was timed. They were sure to convey that it wasn’t a race but a ride. For the race minded folks they set up a Strava Segment along the backside of the 50 mile route.
My goals were to hold onto a fast group for as long as I could. I would use all the tools of wheel sucking, sag climbing, and staying calm. And it worked well.
